Submitting a design for 3d printing

  1. Patrons can submit designs for printing remotely by using the form below. Design dimensions should not be more than 6.8 in. x 7 in. x 7.4 in. (~175 mm. x 180 mm. x 190 mm.)

  2. Patrons must submit their files in .stl or .obj format and the files cannot be larger than 25MB.

  3. Please send your design to: leonia3dprinting@gmail.com

  4. PLEASE SUBMIT ONLY ONE DESIGN AT A TIME AND WAIT UNTIL YOUR PRINT IS COMPLETE BEFORE SUBMITTING ANOTHER.

  5. Files will be printed as we receive requests and when staff is available to print files. Please allow several days for prints to be completed. While we are happy to create your designs we have limited staff and we are not experts so please grant us patience and understanding.

  6. 3D prints will be charged by weight and cost $.15 per gram and may be picked up at the circulation desk.

  7. At this time we offer prints that are only one color.

  8. Staff will provide patrons with an estimate of the cost of the print via email. Patrons MUST pay the cost of the print at the time of pickup by cash or check. If payment is not made then items will be withheld.

  9. Staff will work to make the most successful prints, but must be accepted as is. Additional prints will not be made until first prints are paid for.

  10. The files will be readied for print in Ultimaker Cura.

  11. Items can be picked up at the Circulation Desk after staff has notified you that the print is ready.

You can submit objects for printing via the form below. You can either find an object you’d like to print from pre-made designs on website or submit objects you designed yourself.

Pre-made designs are available at thingiverse.com.

For designing your own objects, the following free software is available:

Be sure that you download or export your files as .stl or .obj files.

  • The library’s 3D printer may be used only for lawful purposes.

  • The library’s 3D printer may not be used for the printing of items that are unsafe, harmful, and dangerous or pose an immediate threat to the safety and well-being of others.

  • The library’s 3D printer may not be used to print items that can be viewed as threatening or racially, ethnically or otherwise provocative or inappropriate for the Library environment.

  • The library’s 3D printer cannot be used to print objects that violate another’s intellectual property rights.
